Edinburgh Guide
All of my favs and recs from my time living in Edin
Edinburgh, I will always love you! It’s magical, rainy, moody, cozy, and somehow everything in between. It’s out of a storybook. Below are my most notable spots and a few places that are at the top of my list for when I go back. Here are the bites, drinks, to-dos, and places to stay in Edinburgh!
To Eat
Urban Angel
My go-to spot for breakfast and lunch.
Pomelo
A little further out, but such good hand-ripped noodles. One of my favorite quaint spots.
What I ordered: hand-ripped noodles / pork belly bao buns / chili garlic cucumbers
Tipo
My favorite restaurant!! The ambiance in the evening (and the food of cousrse) was perfect.
Baba
I did go solo, but would definitely recommend a group or at least two people so you can try more plates! Good go-to nonetheless.
The Scran and Scallie
I was told to go here for their sticky toffee pudding, and dinner all around was good! Still, nothing beats the sticky date cake from Trivoli Tavern/Armitage Alehouse in Chicago.
Timberyard
This is exactly what I think when someone says Michelin starred restaurant. Truly a fabulous experience, but the plates (as expected) are small. On a repeated note, Edinburgh restaurants really know how to do ambiance.
Spry Wines
My favorite wine bar in town! You can also grab small plates here. Fab solo spot.
Bakeries / Cafes
Ante
Below Spry, you’ll find this cafe where you can sit for coffee and/or a bite. They have a smaller menu, but I really enjoyed it for breakfast.
Lannan
MY! FAV! There’s usually a line, but always for good reason. It’s a small spot, so don’t expect to sit there and enjoy your pastries and flat white.
On My List:
Sloe Lane
This opened after I left Edinburgh, but everything on the menu always looks delish! Let me know if you stop by.
The Palmerston
Restaurant and bakery!
Other spots you can pop into to grab a coffee and pastry
The Milkman
Lowdown Coffee
92 Degrees
Caringorm
Beatnik
Papii
Twelve Triangles
Wellington Coffee
Nomad Cafe
Lady and the Bear
To Drink
Spry Wines
Such a lovely wine bar. You can get small plates to eat here as well.
Bramble
I still think about this bar!! It had great music and absolutely delicious drinks. One Copita for me, please!
The Black Cat
I didn’t go to many pubs, but I did go to this one. Bonus points for the live music.
